Western Australia (WA)

"The Golden State"

The state of Western Australia (WA) is almost the size of Western Europe. Mining is a massive industry in WA. In fact, Western Australia’s minerals and petroleum industry was worth over $106 billion for 2011-12. Gold itself accounts for $9.4 billion of the industry, making it Western Australia’s second most valuable mineral. Western Australia is also home to the Argyle Mine, the world’s largest producer of diamonds. The capital city of WA is Perth and it is a popular destination for international students due to it’s sunny weather. Perth is one of the most isolated city in the world, with the closest Australian city 2,200km away. In fact it is closer to Singapore than their capital, Canberra, There is no time difference between Perth and Malaysia and Singapore. Flights from Malaysia and Singapore to Perth is slightly over 4 hours, making it relatively easy to travel to and fro.
