Transfer Guide to U.S. Universities for American Degree Transfer Program (ADTP/ADP) Students
PREPARE Application Documents
ADTP/ADP Transcripts
Request from your school for soft copies of your transcripts to start your application online. You will also be required to request from your school to send your transcripts directly to the U.S. University that you will be apply to.
High School Results
IGCSE
Request from your school to send both IGCSE Certificate and Statement of Results to be sent directly to the U.S. Universities that you are applying for. Obtain soft copies to start the college application online. You may have to bear the cost of all courier fees.
SPM
Request from MOE Malaysia on their website for a copy of your replacement SPM certificate in English. Bring the SPM certificate to your secondary school and request for them to seal and send the certificate directly to the U.S. Universities. You will have to bear the cost of all courier fees.Â

English Proficiency Test
IELTS and TOEFL and the most widely accepted EPT. Do check if the University that you are applying to accepts DET (Duolingo English Test).Â
Scores are to be sent directly to the universities. Request for soft copies for the college application online.
College Essay
Competitive Universities require college essays. The rule of thumb is to keep it below 650 words. 500 words is recommended. Articulate your thoughts and be concise.
Resume
Submitting a resume helps application readers have a clearer idea of your academic journey, life experiences, achievements and skills. We highly recommend you submit your resume and create a LinkedIn account.
Letters of Recommendation
We highly encourage you to have at least TWO Letters of Recommendation. Your referees could be your teachers, school counselor, coach and/or supervisors.
Passport Copy
Your passport copy serves as a national ID and your name on your passport has to be the same as your transcripts. It will also be used on immigration documents such as the I-20.
Financial Affidavit
Depending on the U.S. University you have applied for, you will need to show sufficient funds for one year of Cost of Attendance (One Year Tuition Fee + One Year Living Expenses). Once you have met the Academic, English Language and Financial requirements, the university will issue you the I-20, which would be used to pay for your SEVIS and apply for your F-1 visa.
Transfer Deadlines
We recommend you to start preparing for as many documents you can (high school results, college essay, resume) in advance, e.g., 1 year before the university’s intake.
